Week 13

Week 13

Exercise 3

Exercise 4
1) Apart from their different sizes, it is obvious from Luxo Jr. that the big lamp is “older” and that the small lamp is “younger”.

How is this communicated by the animation? Give at least THREE examples.

The big lamp doesn't move a lot, compared to the smaller lamp. It pretty much shows the same as human. Usually the children are more active than the adults

The big lamp does not seem to like the ball and "kicks" the ball away from it. However, the smaller lamp love the ball and keeps playing with it.

When the ball is burst, only the smaller lamp looks "sad". However, the big lamp doesnt seem to bothered by the ball being burst. Its like in human world, when a children has a balloon and the balloon has been burst, the children would cry or feel sad whereas the adult would not feel that way.

2) Give an example from Luxo Jr of how timing is used for comic effect. Explain how the timing decisions contribute to the humour.

When Luxo Jr hops like as if it is very light, and it likes to wriggle/shake and when it leaps up, it shows happiness.

3) When you create a joint chain, these form a hierarchy, with the first joint at the top and the last joint at the bottom. Explain why this is necessary for the joints to work properly.

It works like human bones, where the bones are linked together but the main control is the "brain". Thus, if these joints are not joined properly, some of it would be "dislocated".
